I sent another email to the Governor. It’s my job as a tax payer, voter and parent to use my voice when I’m certain I am being wronged. You too should use your voice and write an email. Send it using this link.
Governor Newsom –
Please open our schools and communities. Your one-size-fits all mandates are decimating small rural counties like mine. Glenn County is comprised of 28,000 people spaced out over 1400 square miles. As of today, August 28th, there are 12 people in our entire county AT HOME recovering from the virus that 99% of people will recover from. Given our community of large family units, it’s reasonable to assume that those cases are kept in even fewer homes.
Our two income families in Glenn County, most of whom work in the “essential” agriculture industry, are having to choose who gets to work and who quits their job to stay home indefinitely to ensure our kids are logged on to the internet to get their education. Internet that is inconsistent, expensive and slow by the way. Harvard Medical School, the Academy of American Pediatrics, and the US Centers for Disease Control have all said kids should be in their classrooms and not learning from home.
These continued mandates are doing more harm to families and all of our emotional well-being then they are doing good. Put our kids back into their classrooms in-person. Open our restaurants and businesses. Allow Californians to continue to grow and expand the economy rather than stand in line for unemployment.
You seem to be in control. Start working for the people who contribute instead of pandering to the ones with their hands out.
